Grace Atwood’s Perfect Day in NYC

Grace Atwood knows how to have a Perfect Day in NYC has Grace all smileyFor today’s installment of ‘My Perfect Day in NYC,’ I’m so excited to share yet another one of my favorite New Yorkers! Grace is the writer behind one of my most frequently visited blogs, The Stripe. She’s also the co-host of the popular Bad on Paper Podcast (you can find my episode hereand basically killing it in both arenas.

Grace Atwood’s Perfect Day in NYC

First off, I’d sleep in a little bit. I love to sleep and this is a perfect day so we do what we want, right? Then I’d take a 10am yoga class. My go-to studio is Sky Ting Yoga, it’s the absolute best! They teach a blend of Katonah + Vinyasa techniques and there’s always a bit of meditation with breathing practices mixed in. My favorite teachers are Christopher Golden, Chloe + Krissy (the founders), Grace Dubery, and Lindsay Tyson! It always leaves me feeling recharged and relaxed and ready to conquer the day.

Then, I will hit Dunkin’ on the way home for an iced coffee. Yes, I know how lowbrow this is & no, I AM NOT ASHAMED. You can’t take the “Masshole” out of me, I love it so much! I just get a medium iced coffee with a little milk.

I go home and have a leisurely rest of my morning; Rinse off, read a little, make a big salad for lunch. Or maybe I’ll have a bagel instead because it’s my perfect day and bagels are my number one indulgence!

Then, I’d get a massage. My favorite spa in the city is the one at The Carlyle. But since this is my perfect day, I’m also STAYING at The Carlyle (bucket list, anyone?) Following my massage, I’d hang out in their steam room to relax a little and get ready to officially start my day.

Nothing relaxes me quite like a museum day and since I’m up on the Upper East Side, that’s what I’m doing! I would walk over to the Guggenheim  & explore for an hour (there’s a great Basquiat exhibit on the top floor), and then head to the Cooper Hewitt, a really cool design museum which is also on the smaller side, and finish spending the rest of the day at The Met (my happy place!) Right now I’m dying to see the Frank Lloyd Wright Textiles Exhibit and of course, the Camp: Notes On Fashion Exhibit. The Epic Abstraction Exhibit is still up (I went this winter) and it’s amazing if you love modern art. At some point, a friend will join me to wander the halls and then, we’ll go grab a glass of Prosecco.

Next, it’s time to do a bit of shopping as I have a fancy dinner ahead of me. So I go to Saks. Truthfully, I do most of my shopping online because I know all my sizes and like to be able to link my clothing for my blog readers, but the customer service is on point. They always help me find the perfect dress for a special occasion. On my way home maybe I’ll pop into the Veronica Beard store on the Upper East Side.

Then, I’ll head home (aka The Carlyle, lol) to get ready for dinner and meet my best girlfriends at The Polo Bar for dinner. The Polo Bar is my favorite fancy restaurant. I always get asked how I get reservations there. You just have to be proactive and make it a month in advance. We’ll have a dirty martini at the bar and then head downstairs to share a bunch of plates at dinner; the chopped salad, the pigs in blankets (yes really), the Dover Sole, and the burger all come to mind as favorites!

After dinner, it’s back to The Carlyle! Bemelman’s Bar is an institution and one of my absolute favorite places in the city. It’s time for some live music and maybe a negroni or some more champagne to finish my perfect day in NYC!

Great tips! I’ll be tucking this post away until it’s time for me to dress a bump. I feel like you only get to do it a little while, you might as well have fun with it
