The Dyson Hairdryer Review: Is it Worth it?

The Dyson Hairdryer Review: Is it Worth it?In keeping up with the topic of hair this week, today I’m getting into the best hair dryer that’s out there (in my humble opinion, of course), the Dyson Supersonic.

The Dyson Hairdryer Review: Is it Worth it?

At this point, I’ve had my Dyson Hairdryer for two years. I got it for Christmas and while I was hesitant to spend that kind of money (a whopping $400) myself, getting it as a gift was an easier pill to swallow. With that being said, knowing what I know now, I would buy it.

Let me explain why.

To start , my hair is color treated, naturally fine, wavy and prone to frizz.

The Dyson Hairdryer Review: Is it Worth it?

The Pros:

Drying Time:

The first thing that comes to mind is at how quickly the Dyson dries my hair. Quicker than any other hair dryer that I’ve tried, and I’ve tried a lot from drugstore brands to the fancier ones. I’d say it dries my hair in about 10 minutes, compared to 15-18+ minutes with other dryers. Time is money, especially when you have kids at home, so that in itself is major.

Frizz Factor:

When I air dry or use most other blow dryers, my hair has a tendency to get frizzy. The Dyson cuts down my frizz considerably and makes my hair smoother than any other hair dryer that I’ve tried. There’s a sensor inside that measures the heat of the air and by some sort of Dyson magic, it’s meant to dry your hair faster than any other dryer, but with less heat.

Weight & Sound:

Another major plus is that it’s considerably lighter than most hair dryers, never making my hand tired. It’s also significantly quieter.

Settings:

It has three heat settings and three airflow options. This is incredibly useful for full-on blowouts or just touchups. On nights that I’m extra tired or lazy, I’ll often rough dry at night and then smooth it out in the morning using a lower setting.

Heat Protection:

The attachments and surface of the dryer never overheat, so there’s also no burning your fingers. However, I do recommend using a heat protectant spray or cream before using heat.

No Tangle Cord:

I never realized just how much a tangled cord was a thing, until I tried the Dyson. I am constantly untangling the cord from my curling iron, but Dyson, being the geniuses that they are, figured out a way to prevent this.

Warranty:

The Dyson also comes with a two year warranty, which is really great considering the price. Also, when you purchase from Nordstrom, they back up all of their products with their incredible customer service. My friend bough a NuFace from Nordstrom that stopped working after a few months and they exchanged, no questions asked.

The Dyson Hairdryer Review: Is it Worth it?The Cons:

The main con is the price. It’s a lot of money to spend on a hair tool! I will say, if you’re someone who uses a blow dryer often, especially to smooth out your hair, I’d say it’s worth the investment.

Power Cord: I’ve had someone mention that they’re not a fan of the power cord since it’s pretty big and can block a second outlet, but I don’t find it to be a huge issue.

Would I Recommend the Dyson?

100%! Especially if  you regularly style your hair, if it takes a lot of time to dry or if it’s normally prone to frizz, I’d recommend it in a heartbeat.

Let me know if you have any additional questions and I’ll add them to this post! I also have yet to try the Dyson Airwrap, so I cannot comment on it personally.

You can shop the Dyson dryer and all of their other hair products on Nordstrom.

Thank you to Nordstrom for partnering on this post! All opinions are 100% my own.

If you love the hair dryer- you will looove their Air Wrap- I’m not particularly skilled in hair styling by any means, but my waves last 2-3 days as though I’ve been to a salon- I also have a Brazilian blowout & can easily get waves anytime I want
