My 19 for 2019 List

Helena Glazer

Helena Glazer is wearing ZaraSweater: Zara (from fall) | TV: 65″ Samsung Frame

And here we are! Happy 2019! It’s probably obvious, but I took some time off from the blog so I can focus on my family. Keith was off and rather than stressing over posting, I made the executive decision to take a little break. Behind the scenes, I wanted to get my creative juices flowing, think about new ideas and work on content when I had a creative burst of energy, which honestly, happened quite often these past two weeks. I started drafting a ton of new posts, jotting down things that popped into my head and already, I feel pretty good entering the new year.

Rather than posting a list of resolutions, after listening to The Happier Podcast, I got inspired to post a list of 19 things, large and small, that I want to accomplish in 2019. The plan is to print this list out, so it serves as a reminder of the things that I want to do. Already, I started off the New Year with tackling my cluttered beauty closet. I had dozens of bottles of dry shampoo, hair spray, creams, lotions, potions and it got to a point where I didn’t even know what I had. I would open up the closet and immediately, shut it because it stressed me out. This went on for a full year and yesterday, I decided that I didn’t want to start the New Year with this mess that was weighing me down. So without further ado, here are 19 other goals to complete this year.

My 19 for 2019 List

  1. Try a Pilates Reformer Class.
  2. Get my Drivers License: I’ve taken the road test twice before and failed when it came to parallel parking.
  3. Get a Mammogram: Because my maternal grandmother passed away from breast cancer, it was suggested I start getting yearly mammograms.
  4. Learn how to invest money.
  5. Make a dentist appointment.
  6. Stop sleeping with the phone on my nightstand.
  7. Start and finish my gallery wall.
  8. Plan a romantic trip with Keith, just the two of us. Preferably a trip that involves a beach, sand and drinks with little umbrellas in them. It’s been way too long.
  9. Plan a family trip to a place we’ve never been.
  10. Take a wine class.
  11. Create physical photo albums from when Nate was born to now.
  12. Back up all of my digital photos onto a hard drive (on top of google photos and iCloud) and create at least one book.
  13. Try one new restaurant a month.
  14. Continue following the one-minute rule.
  15. Cook one new recipe a month.
  16. Incorporate a form of meditation into my life.
  17. Spend more time with my parents.
  18. Take the initiative and plan at least one friends trip.
  19. Take a media class. Whether it’s public speaking or speaking to a camera, I want to get better at all of it.

And there you have it. What are some of yours? Please share!

PS: As a reminder, I normally post on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays but because this was a short week, I’ll be posting again tomorrow and Friday.

Wishing you all an amazing start to 2019!

xo,

Helena

These are all lovely goals! Ever since I started sleeping with my phone on the other side of my room, I’ve noticed a huge impact on the way I sleep and how I feel when I wake up. A) it has been scientifically proven that it’s better to do this, but I won’t get into that. B) It lets me calm down without feeling the need to check my messages or Insta updates. C) It makes checking my phone not be the first thing I do in the morning, and D) When I set an alarm, it forces me to get out of bed to turn it off so I am never tempted to hit snooze. Happy 2019 xx

Is not about jumping from one relationship to the other, when you find a true love do everything you can to keep it going because heartbreak can make you lose your mind and unfocused in life. I have experience it and I know how it feels to lose someone you love to somebody else, let me tell you about myself, I got married to a man I love but something happened and we got separated I at first I thought I could coupe but as times goes by, I find out I could not then I realize I needed help to fix my relationship with my husband again that is how I got to know about Dr Ekpen the spell caster who helped me to cast a love spell to get my husband to love me again. In case you are having challenges in your marriage/relationship you can contact Dr Ekpen today to help via: (ekpentemple @ gmail. com).

That is such an awesome and sweet list, you can really tell that you appreciate the small things in life – that’s lovely! My new years resolutions include starting to take a salsa class and calling or texting two persons a week that I have not spoken to for a longer time 🙂
A happy new year to you and your precious family!

This is a great list especially about the mammogram! I was diagnosed at age 27 (now 30), and I’m still thriving. It’s crazy bc it so unheard of getting breast cancer at a young age. And definitely being proactive makes all the difference!

  • Sarah

You just introduced me to the one minute rule and I am loving it, its so true though – when you put something off you feel bad or just become lazy but once you just do it then your life becomes a little bit easier.
Some of my resolutions are to spend more time outside, go to lunch or dinner alone, and do more of what makes me happy without feeling guilty about it. Your list has definitely added some new ones to mine!

    Do squats.

  • Desiree

Hello! Long time reader but first time commenting. Don’t be intimidated by Pilates Reformer classes! I did private reformer sessions for awhile to try to heal my Diastasis Recti, but now I’m taking group classes. They are great for strengthening your core and everything else. Have fun!

  • Sel

Happy New Year Helena, Keith and Nate. I love your list. My goals for 2019 are:
    1. To spend time with the people that I love.
    2. I have always enjoyed the TV series “Who do you think you are”. I find people and their life story fascinating and interesting. Therefore, I would love to develop a deeper and more intimate relationship with those that I love. I am a first generation Australian and have many older relatives that were born in Europe in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s who migrated to Australia in the 1960s. They all have stories – I know some of their history and life experience, but that knowledge is shallow. I want to hear their stories. They all have lived through much and have accumulated much wisdom. I do not want them to pass away without their story being told.
    3. To not be judgemental of others. Sometimes I catch myself making judgements of others too often in the negative and not the positive. These judgements are often based on my perception and life experiences. I am certain that I have judged people and their actions wrongly because of this. I need to stop judging others on incomplete information/knowledge.
Happy and healthy 2019 everyone. xx

    • Helena

      Hi Sel,
      Happy New Year to you!
Wow, I love that so much. I often think about how I need to speak to my family, who’ve lived such incredible lives in Russia, about what they went through, where they came from, etc.

  • Diana

Reformer pilates is amazing!!!! I highly recommended it. I tried it for the first time last year and I’m addicted- it’s changed my body in ways that other workouts (including weight lifting) haven’t been able to, and in such a short time frame.
I passed my drivers license about 3 weeks ago after failing it about 3x… I also file because of parallel parking.
I work in investments and I highly recommend that you start asap! It’s very empowering to see your money grow!!!
Best of luck with your goals 🙂 🙂

  • Cecilia Boateng

Happy New Year! I also have volunteer on my list for the year!

  • Megan

After you got me hooked on the Happier I podcast I too did a 19 for 2019 list. I love seeing yours! Not to add more to your year, but posts on a lot of these topics could be really great as well as how you plan to accomplish them and stay motivated all year plus a mid and end of year check in.

  • Rania (@itsmystylediary_)

I really enjoyed reading your list. I was just doing the same yesterday. I told myself I need an “ongoing action plan” that I check every month to see the progress and not “resolutions”. I will get off the couch and exercise more – and this I started during in December so it’s a start. I need to see a dermatologist for skin issues, something I’ve been procrastinating all 2018 because of my needle phobia. I will not diet because I could never stick to a diet but rather I will follow a healthy eating lifestyle and indulge like one day a week because of my sweet tooth I can not cut chocolates completely but decided to eat only dark chocolate which I also love. Have a great 2019 dear.

Happy New Year! I’m right there with you on #4. I just started the book Invested by Danielle Town and highly recommend it as a good starting point. I even bought it for my sister!

Mega reformers are the best! You should try SLT or if you want your butt kicked! Also, are you on Class Pass? If so, Body Rok is a great, cheaper option.
