January Favorites

1. Topshop High Rise Jamie Jeans

I’ve expressed my love for the Topshop Jamie jeans in numerous posts and I couldn’t have a January roundup without including them. If you’re a fan of a high rise, I highly recommend them. They run a little tight so unless you want them super snug, I recommend sizing up.

2. Nike Roshe

I loved my blush pair so much that I recently got them in black. I’ve been wearing them non stop on my “off-duty” days and to the gym.

3. Jade Face Roller

I first learned about the benefits of using a jade roller from Tina from Bag Snob’s Instagram video. I know it’s not strictly the act of “rolling” that gives Tina the envy-worthy skin that she has, but even if it’s one of her things, sign me up. After doing my own research, there are so many incredible benefits. It helps increase stimulation, drains congested lymph nodes, rids the body of toxins/waste, stimulates collagen production, helps with sinus issues, and helps with under eye puffiness. It’s best to keep your roller in the fridge prior to using and to use on a an oiled up face so it glides, without pulling.  Also, this is another great video.

FYI: I bought this one, but there are a lot of negative reviews due to the handle falling off. I haven’t experienced any issues yet, but just a heads up! If you don’t want to take any chances and are okay with spending a bit more, the one I linked above seems to be of better quality.

4. Neutrogena Sesame Body Oil

I religiously used this body oil years ago and for no good reason, I stopped. During one of my recent drugstore hauls, I picked it up and was reminded at how beautifully luxurious it was, comparing to body oils with a much heftier price tag. I use it after a shower, slather it on and wait until it absorbs while I finish other parts of my routine.

5. Yuli Liquid Courage

I first learned about this oil, and the brand in general, when reading up on the highly buzzed about Vintner’s Daughter. After landing on Into the Gloss and reading through all of the comments, I noticed that a ton of people were raving about this Yuli brand and in particular, the Liquid Courage. An hour later and after going through ingredient lists, various sites and reviews, I ended up ordering it. Fast forward to a few weeks later and I think I’ve found my new favorite antioxidant oil.  I know it doesn’t come cheap, so as always, I’ll keep you all updated!

6. La La Land

This movie was everything I expected and more. Days later, I’m still thinking about it and itching to go see it again. The cinematography, the directing, the acting, the story itself was all perfection. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s a must! And if you get a chance, see it on a big screen.

7. How to Win Friends & Influence People

This book is one of the best sellilng books of all time and for good reason. If I could recommend one book for everyone to read, it would be this one. I’ve read it and reread it over a dozen times and it’s made such an impact on how I view navigating any social situation, but more importantly, just simple human interaction. It’s so much more about “winning friends,” but principles that can really change your life. Do you have any books that have made a huge impact on your life? Let me know!

8. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream

Another product that I’ve used on and off for ages and I almost forgot how great it was. When I’m in need of a super moisturizing, no frills cream, this one is the best. Leaves my skin looking hydrated, without looking greasy.

9. Only Hearts Body Suit

Sleek and streamlined it’s no secret that I’ve been living in this bodysuit. I also love that it’s a thong so there’s no VPL (visible panty lines) and squashed butt effect. I loved the black so much that I ordered the white, but unfortunately, it wasn’t as flattering.

I just watched la la land and I loved it, it wasn’t quite what I was expecting but it was still a great movie.

    Hey Helena,

I would love to know how you are able to focus and prioritize as well as finding me time with your little one. My toddler follows me even to the bathroom.

I too used to love the Neutrogena oil, the scent is divine. However, I stopped using it because it contains parabens. After having Leukemia, my doctors gave me a list of things to avoid “just to be sure” and parabens were one on the list of NOS sketchy chemicals for humans. I wish Neutrogena would remove that, my backup is Weleda Wild Rose oil, but it is of course more expensive, and although I love rose scent (and it is a true rose scent, not fake), it still isn’t as lovely as the Neutrogena, nor as light and airy. *sad face*

OH! I have been LOOKING for a good jade roller and could not pull the trigger on Amazon, thank you for recommending one. I’m also so surprised to see Yuli on your site, I started using the line about a year ago from a Refinery29 article and my skin has never looked better. I remember about a month into using their stuff I came down with a cold at work and had to go home and my boss said “I’m sorry you’re feeling under the weather but your skin is looking so good!”

We have the same mind! I read the Into The Gloss oil article and ended up purchasing the Liquid Courage serum too lol. I used Vintner’s first and felt that it was a good oil but not really worth the over $200 (paid tax, yay for living in NY). I totally thought it was the best an oil was going to get until I gave Liquid Courage a shot afterward and the results were like Vintner’s Daughter on steroids, skin just looked so much brighter, plumper and even.
