Upper East Side

Coat: Theory (love this one – on sale) | Turtleneck: Pine Cashmere | Denim: H&M | Shoes: Aquazzura (40% off)  | Sunglasses: Celine | Bag: Celine Phantom

This outfit was mostly made up of pieces I’ve had in my closet for over a year. For some, that might not be too impressive, but I’ve been trying not to buy unnecessary pieces or any “dupes” of what I already have. The other day, I walked into Club Monaco and saw a gorgeous grey coat. I picked it up, tried it and thought to myself “oh! this is a must.” As I was waiting on line to pay, I thought to myself “what the hell am I doing? I have an almost similar one home…” I walked out of the store, came home and took this coat out of my closet as a reminder to wear it.

In general, I’ve been trying really hard to shop my own closet. I’m not going to lie, having a blog where I often document my outfits can make that incredibly tricky. I often crave new things: new accessories, a new lipstick, new shoes, BUT, there are times where I have to reel it in. This was one of those instances!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend & holiday!!

It’s a great coat no matter how old. I think we can all relate to excessive shopping. Nice to share that you’re just like the rest of us. Happy holidays to you and your family!

  • Jeniese

I completely understand your pain. Having a blog makes it so easy to shop for the new because you want everything to be fresh. Spending my holiday doing closet edits and trying to shop my closet more.

    loving this all grey look!

    so cool!

Love a good monochrome look, esp when it’s an all grey look. So chic! xx

Bloggerproblems ;))) Totally get what you mean and I can always come up with at least 10 reasons in my head why I need that new item, despite it looks completely the same as the one I already have haha.
But your outfit looks really timeless and chic – love it! Have a wonderful holiday,
    xx Kristjaana

The coat is amazing! I love shopping but I only buy things that are completely different from the rest of the stuff I have. I also like to wear my clothes for a few seasons. I don’t change my closet every year because for me that’s a waste.

    Happy holidays to you too!

Grey and nude are so chic together!

Shopping your closet and trying not to purchase duplicates of things is very smart – — I will start following your example!

I think that’s awesome that you’ve made the decision to shop your own closet, it’s something I try to do as often as possible, too. I love this entire outfit, the various shades of grey bring the monochrome outfit to life and I love that you’ve added those gorgeous nude shoes! Thanks for sharing and I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season!

I just got those shoes in black and I’m trying to convince myself I don’t need nude nor the sandal version! So hard to reign it in sometimes!!

  • alexia

Glad im not the only one who like pairing tan and grey together.

You did well. Love the nude accessories with all the grey. Still a great coat.

I totally understand this! My closet is bursting but somehow I always want something new and my taste often gravitates toward similar items. You really do have to make a conscious effort. Love this look you put together from items you already have- very chic!

    Your coat is amazing.

Most members of New York’s upper-class families have made residences on the Upper East Side, including the oil-rich Rockefellers ,

Love this post because it is SO true and a good reminder to the new year! I get so wrapped up in the novelty of something new and it makes me feel so good, but I have to remind myself that if we shop in our closets more, not buy unnecessary items, we will have the luxury to splurge on what we truly want, and our husbands will be happier in the long run hah! 🙂

[…] This outfit by Brooklyn Blonde has re-ignited my lust again for a great grey coat (obviously.) The only thing is that I want to hold out for something simple, elegant, without a trench-look to it (my black Burberry one already looks like a trench), and is a wrap coat with interesting sleeve details. Oh wait. You mean like THIS ONE!? *googly eyes* […]
