I’m definitely not an LA expert by any means, but I’ve traveled there enough to have some favorites and places I’d definitely recommend to any friends!
West Hollywood/Hollywood
BLD: I’ve been here several times for brunch and it never disappoints! I highly recommend the french press coffee, the ricotta blueberry pancakes and the egg sandwich.
Komodo Truck: We came here for lunch one day and I’m still thinking about their truffle fries. SO GOOD. While all the tacos we tried were delicious, the fish n’ grapes was my fav!
Izaka-ya: One of my favorite sushi spots in LA.  The yellowtail with jalapeno, spicy tuna on crispy rice,  and the albacore tuna with crispy are my favorites. Mmmm! Whether you’re coming in for lunch or dinner, I recommend making reservations as this place is always fairly busy.
Juice Served Here: We have some pretty good juice bar places in NYC, but nothing like this. After spending about a week being in and out of the car, which meant eating a lot of bad things, my body was craving something healthy. For starters, the Cream Party (coconut water + mature coconut meat) is one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. I drank it and felt instantly hydrated. The Pipe Cleaner and Green Milk were my other favorites, but the best part? You can sample anything before you buy, which is nice considering the juices are not cheap ($8-$12)
Downtown LA
Bottega Louie: You’ve probably seen their famous macarons in about 38945794 photos on instagram, and while they’re good (and so pretty to look at!) the rest of their french dessert section is mind blowing. The space is absolutely beautiful and I love coming here at least once for an afternoon lunch or dessert.
LA Chapter/Ace Hotel Downtown: We stayed here for a night to break up the trip and although the rooms were tiny, the vibe was cool (great pool and bar atmosphere) and an overall great way to spend some time Downtown. We concluded our visit there with breakfast at their restaurant and it was so good. I love avocado toast more than anything and theirs was seriously on point.

Santa Barbara
Also wanted to include our two favorites on our side trip to Santa Barbara. We used Sam’s Guide and it did not steer us wrong. Our personal favorite was The Jane. Probably the best meal we’ve had during our entire week in California. The mussels and the coconut cake are not to be missed. Trust me! And for one of the best almond croissants ever, Renaud’s is a must.
