Happy Friday!

I’ve gotten a lot of questions about some of the wellness/beauty routines that I post on instastories. For one, I recently purchased Collagen, Cleanse and Glow from The Beauty Chef, who is all about promoting good gut health. Because truly, your digestive system and a clean gut is the key to everything. I have never tried any of these, but have heard great things from some friends in the health industry. Keep you all posted!

I’ve been using this mascara for the last week and it might be my new favorite. It’s been awhile since I loved a mascara as much as L’Oreal Voluminous

Speaking of Wellness, if you’re like me, you’ve wondered “what vitamins should I really be taking?” The folks over at goop teamed up with their doctors to create vitamin and mineral regimens to address a woman and her specific needs. You can order it once or better yet, get a monthly subscription. A bit on the pricey side, but at least you know you’re getting the best ingredients out there.

The Effects on Homework on Elementary School Students. 100% agree. Children should be playing outside, using their imaginations, doing “children” type activities. They should not be coming home to hours of homework at such a young age.

I just ordered this jumpsuit!

Affordable skin care products that actually work.

How bots are inflating instagram egos. Being in the industry, it still astonishes me how many “big” people have a fake following and fake engagement. It’s unfair to the people who keep it real, but hopefully they’re able to do something about it soon.

Ah, and I’ll end it with these shoes. Insert all of the heart eyes.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

xo,

Helena

I totally agree that children should be doing “children” activities! It’s so important to let them explore outside school and grow their creativity and social sense. Lovely bag btw! 🙂

And don’t forget Superelixir! This amazing Alkalising product will get your gut back into shape quickly, as well as provide all your daily vitamins and minerals. http://Www.welleco.com is the site and has loads of information. I love their protein powder too. It’s plant based, so no whey. They have yummy flavors and great recipes too. At 51 they are the best decisions I’ve made. Xoxoxo! Carrol

Helena, would love if you could share your touching-up/refreshing techniques for back-to-back meetings/appointments/happy hour; especially during hot and sticky weather. I think this is a real dilemma for many of us. Have a great weekend!

I can’t wait to hear about The Beauty Chef products as I have been suffering from digestive troubles now and then. I even noticed that when my gut isn’t feeling well some blemishes appear on my skin, gut health is definitely the key to everything !

I agree that children should be allowed to play and explore their world – it is important. The article on homework, however, does not specify how many hours of homework are being set per day and per grade level. When my son was young his homework was 20-30 minutes of reading a night and a weekly spelling test of 10 words (1st and 2nd grade). 3rd and 4th grade – 45 minutes of reading per night, a weekly maths worksheet and a 20 word spelling test. 5th and 6th grade – same as for 3rd and 4th grade and sometimes project work. He did not find this a load and, as parents, neither did we. He still had ample time every day to play outside, pursue creative interests and participate in karate two nights per week. I was a stay at home mum so maybe that made a difference (the extra time I had and I also live in Australia). I have three friends who are teachers at the elementary school level and three cousins who teach high school students. The biggest criticism from my friend teachers is that a great number of parents do not want to assume responsibility for their children’s learning and expect the teachers to do it all. In addition, these teachers have had to teach children how to ride a bike, simple manners, one even had to toilet train a 1st grader (these are the responsibilities of parents). Learning should be a partnership between parents and the school. Teachers should be allowed to teach and not be given the extra task of raising their charges.

I’ve been wondering about those powders that you’ve been adding to your shakes and smoothies, too; so I definitely want you to do an update after having used them for a while to let us know how they work out for you! Honestly, in the boroughs, such as Brooklyn, you tend to see more kids playing outside than you do in the suburbs, which I now reside. It’s quite sad actually. Now that I’m pregnant and only a couple of weeks away from giving birth, I told my mom we will be coming to Brooklyn a lot as she grows (my mom lives in BK) because I want her to grow up knowing the games I grew up playing (I grew up in the Bronx). It’s sad how slowly the schools and the enhancement of social media has negatively influenced much of the creativity we used to see in all children, regardless of whether they lived in the suburbs or not. Anyway, thanks so much for sharing your current faves with us, beauty, and I hope you have a great start to your week!
