The most important element in my wardrobe: denim! I’d love to think that over the years, my style has not only evolved, but I’ve really come to a place to understand what I feel my best in and what really expresses my style. I’ve experimented with fashion, but one thing I always come back to is denim. It’s the foundation of my entire wardrobe.

I also don’t think one needs to own 25 pairs to have a great assortment. For me, I rotate about five or six pairs that I’m always reaching for.

I had a guide last year and there are several pairs that are repeated, year after year. There are also some newer styles and as I plan to photograph those pairs and edit this post, those will be added throughout the week.

With that said, Shopbop has launched their denim guide which is absolutely worth checking out. However, as one of their long-term partners, I’m always excited to put together my own.

AGOLDE Lana:

The Lana jeans were included in my denim guide last year and they still remain one of my favorite pairs.

If the above wash is sold out in your size, this wash is similar and equally as nice. They also come in a variety of different washes.

Fit: Mid-rise, straight-leg, 100% cotton.

Sizing: Fits true to size and wearing a 27 here. I wear a 27-28 in most AGOLDE denim. They start out a bit snug, but after a wear or so, they fit perfectly.

What I like to wear them with:  I find them to be so flattering with everything from heels, to flats to sneakers.

AGOLDE Riley:

If you’re in need of a pair that’s slim, but not necessarily painted-on-skinny, these are the perfect pair. They work well under boots and I equally love them with a flat or loafer, but quite honestly, they’re so versatile and work with most shoes. They also come in a variety of washes and lengths. 

Fit: High-rise, slim fit and a straight leg. 99& cotton/1% elastane

Sizing: Fits true to size and wearing a 27 here.

What I like to wear them with:  Under a taller boot (as pictured), ballet flats, loafers and a slimmer sneaker. They really work well with everything, but I might prefer the Lana jeans with a heel.

CITIZENS OF HUMANITY ANNINA TROUSER:

Fit: High-rise, Wide-leg, 100% cotton, light-weight.

Sizing: Fits true to size. I’m in a 27.

What I like to wear them with:  As the name suggests, they have the look and feel of a trouser, making them one of my favorite pairs of jeans to wear when I want a slightly more polished denim look. They look great with a higher heel, a block heel and I’ve even worn them with a flat when I want that “wide jean” look, all pictured above. They also come in a variety of washes.

Notes: The material on these is super lightweight, making these one of the most comfortable pairs that I own.

Fit: High-rise, Straight-leg, 100% cotton.

Sizing: Fits true to size, but if in between sizes, size up. I am wearing a 28.

What I like to wear them with: I find these to be quite versatile working well with every type of footwear. Above, I love the proportion of a heel with the slightly wider leg, but they look great with a lot of different footwear.

Notes: I hemmed the bottom using a garment scissor.

What I like to wear them with: As I mentioned above, I sized up in these to give them more of a relaxed fit. Because of that, I really love pairing them with more structured pieces to create a nice balance.
