Our Updated Shared Kids Room

Our Updated Shared Kids RoomPlanning to add a wall mural to the wall, but we had to wait 30 days for the paint to dry before doing so.

I’m so excited to be able to share our updated nursery/toddler room. I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t exactly sure how it would all come together, but I am truly so happy with the outcome. It actually came out better than I imagined in my head. We were incredibly lucky to work with Amazon Home on the shared kids room and it’s no surprise, that almost everything came from Amazon. Their selection, as always, was incredibly vast and the hardest part was choosing what pieces we would end up going with. I also discovered Amazon Home’s mid-century modern brand Rivet, which has some really fantastic patterns, as you’ll see in a few of the pieces below.

Our Updated Shared Kids Room

Babyletto Scoot 3-in-1 Convertible Crib:

Because this room was going from Nate’s solo room to a joint baby/toddler room, we needed a crib that was a bit smaller. Our previous crib was fairly large, and in order to not overwhelm the space, we went with this beautiful option from Babyletto. I love the wood and white detailing as well as the warmth that it adds to the space. Hanging from the crib is this beautiful, 100% handmade mobile from Pehr.

Babyletto Gelato Changing Dresser:

Our previous changing table was massive and while it worked in Nate’s solo room, it was far too large for the updates we were planning to make. This changing table is from the same collection as the crib and it’s the perfect size and compliment to the room. I’m also not normally one for a matchy/matchy situation, but in this case, I love how the two pieces look side-by-side. I’m a big fan of Babyletto products and how the products add a touch of warmth to the room, while still looking fresh and modern.

nuLOOM Sheepskin Shag Rug layered on top of a Rivet Geometric Wool Rug:

I’ve found that layering rugs is one of the easiest ways to create warmth. It also adds an element of plushness to the room. While I love the geometric rug on its own, adding the sheepskin rug added a little whimsy and child-like feel (and comfort) to the room.

Nouella Changing Basket at Shared Kids Room:

As soon as I saw this little changing basket, I knew I wanted it over a standard changing pad. It’s beautiful, and made incredibly well and just adds the sweetest little touch to the room.

Twin Trundle Bed with Drawers:

Nate’s first big boy bed! We opted to go straight to a twin bed. It’s something he’ll use for years to come, rather than a toddler bed which is pretty short lived.  I picked this one because not only does it have three extra drawers, which is always a plus, but it’s also has a trundle option, something we knew we wanted. To make the transition from a crib to a bed relatively seamless, I added these Milliard bed bumpers and they’ve been great!

For his bedding, we currently have this one!

Our Updated Shared Kids Room

Ubabub Acrylic Bookshelves:

Dare I say that this wall of shelves is possibly my favorite part of the room?! Aesthetically pleasing and both functional and stylistic. Again, because the room went from being Nate’s solo room to a joint room, it was important to be able to utilize the space in creative ways. The shelves allow us to display some of our favorite books, while still maintaining a light and airy feel to the room. The key was to use more vertical, wall space and less floor space!

Our Updated Shared Kids RoomNursery Works Sleepytime Rocker:

In the previous nursery, I never actually had a rocker. I ended up using a big chair, which was fine, but I didn’t realize how much I was missing out. The design of this one is what made me love it. It mixes functionality and the combination of a beautiful soft grey with wooden details. I’ll even say, it’s even more beautiful and comfortable in person.

Signature Design by Ashley Poof & Rivet Modern Hand-Woven Throw:

I paired the rocker with this throw and this poof, which adds such a nice natural texture to the room.

Sputnik Chandelier Light Fixture

Sputnik Chandelier Light Fixture:

Initially, I considered a different light fixture. However, it was a bit more rustic and we felt the room needed a bit of a modern touch. This one looks much more expensive than it actually is. In addition, it brings so much light to the room (due to the 10 exposed bulbs). We paired it with these dimmable edison bulbs.

So, there you have our breakdown. Luckily for us, since time was of the essence, almost everything was delivered via Amazon Prime – even the larger pieces. I mean, as a parent, is there anything better than Prime’s fast, free delivery?? I don’t think so.

Thank you to Larisa of Soeur Interiors for helping us figure out spacing and final details!

Love the shelves so much but seem so pricey for plain clear shelves. Anything similar on Amazon you would recommend?

Great post, love what you did with your space. But If i can offer one critique. As I read, it doesn’t sound like your “voice”. Your choice of words and the way you describe each item seems out of your character. I just feel like the writing isn’t “you”. but if I’m wrong, please forgive me.
