The Best Cocktails in NYC

Best Cocktails in NYC

I absolutely love a good cocktail and always appreciate when it’s done with some skill and love. Of course, equally important is the ambiance to where you get to enjoy this beautifully concocted creation. Below, I’m sharing five of my personal favorite spots:

Best Cocktails in NYC Masion Premiere

Maison Premiere

Where: Williamsburg, Brooklyn | 298 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

One of the of the main reasons I love this place is probably because it’s inspired by one of my favorite cities in the world, New Orleans. Super cozy and inviting with some of the best cocktails the city has to offer. Along with their cocktails, they have a kick ass oyster happy hour and an entire absinthe menu.

On a cold day, the Hot Toddy and Winter Pimm’s cup (pictured above) are my favorites.

Best Cocktails in NYC The NoMad Bar

The NoMad Bar

Where: The NoMad Hotel, Flatiron | 10 West 28th Street, New York, NY

At the moment, The NoMad is probably my favorite restaurant in the city, but I’ll leave that part for another post (working on my favorite restaurants, part II). Today, I’m here to talk about the bar. I once read that upon entering, “you’ll instantly be transported to a time where New York City bars were the pinnacle of glamour and mastery of craft.” The space is filled with  beautiful leather chairs and an impressive 24″ mahogany bar, The NoMad is sleek and sexy, yet at the same time, comfortable.

Favorite drinks: Old Fashioned (one of the best I’ve had) and The North Sea oil which is a combination of Aquavit, Islay Scotch, Cocchi Americano and Triple Sec with a grapefruit twist. Sounds odd but the flavors work together so well!

Tip: Get here early as it gets crowded. An even better tip: enjoy a cocktail before your dinner reservation, which is the real way to do it! For dinner, book 28 days in advance.

Best Cocktails in NYC The Wayland

The Wayland

Where: East Village | 700 East 9th street, New York, NY

This place is off the beaten path, but worth making the trek for, especially if you’re coming for their happy hour, which includes $7 cocktails & $1 oysters – a really great deal for NYC standards. The decor reminds me of a chic cabin, with a laid-back vibe and some of the nicest bartenders around. If you’re looking for a quiet evening, definitely don’t come here. If you’re okay with a place that tends to get loud and lively (and often filled with live music), this is your spot. It’s sure to be a good time!My personal favorites cocktails are “The Garden Variety Margarita” and the “I Hear Banjos.” For food, the BLT and the sausage bread and ricotta. You’ll thank me later.

Best Cocktails in NYC Clover Club

Clover Club

Where: Carrolls Gardens, Brooklyn | 210 Smith Street, Brooklyn, NY

Great decor, great brunch and even greater cocktails. It’s also probably my most frequented ‘speakeasy type’ bars in the city. As with most modern speakeasies, the menu is broken down by liquor of choice, so there’s something for every palette. I’m typically a bourbon or whiskey girl, so I always go for a Sazerac or an Old Fashioned.

Best Cocktails in NYC Booker and Dax

Booker and Dax (at Momofuku Ssam Bar)

Where: East Village | 207 Second Avenue, New York, NY

Keith and I first discovered this place after having a bit of a wait at Momofuku Ssam, which happens to be another favorite. It’s tucked away in the back of that restaurant, but feels like it’s own little place. Really unique and well crafted cocktails and if you’re not planning to eat at the Ssam Bar, but need a snack, they have the famous pork buns on the menu!Favorite cocktails: The Gin & Juice and The Manhattan, which is served in the coolest way. If you’re craving some dessert, the Momofuku Milk Bar is across the street.

So there you have some of my favorites! Have you been to any of these? What do you think? What are your favorites?
