A Few Of My Favorite Books

I’ve always been an avid reader, but after having Nate, it took me almost two years to pick a book back up. I didn’t realize how much I missed reading until I started again, a few months ago. It’s always been one of my favorite ways to escape and lately, I find myself  wanting to curl up with a book rather than watching a show or movie. My ultimate way to unwind has been by pouring myself a glass of wine, grabbing a book and hopping in the bath. It’s simply #HeavenOnEarth.

A Few Of My Favorite Books

There have been silly moments where I’ve been reluctant to share my favorite books because I’ve always assumed my book taste is not for everyone. Admittedly, I’m also a huge fan of YA novels, with a bit of romance intertwined. Typically, books that are easy enough to breeze through, but that draw me in so much, I’ll lose sleep so I can finish.

In the past few months, I started to casually share what books I was reading, to have many of you tell me that you’ve really enjoyed my recommendations. Some of you have been requesting I share my other favorites, so here we go.

Below are ten of my favorite books:

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

The Idea of You

It Ends With Us

November 9 (and so many other Colleen Hoover books)

Before We Were Strangers

Bright Side: Tear jerker

The Hating Game: Fun, beachy read!

A Hundred Summers

The Heart’s Invisible Furies: A bit heavier

The Kind Worth Killing: A bit heavier

Have any of you read any of these? If so, did you enjoy them as much as I did or do you have different feelings about them? Also, if you have any of your own personal recommendations, please share!

Next on my list, as I’m still craving ‘beachier’ reads:

The Perfect Couple, The Identicals (Same author) and When Life Gives you Lulu Lemons (follow up to The Devil Wears Prada).

A week after making this list, I finished reading Colleen Hoovers latest book, All Your Perfects. Days later, I’m still at a loss for words. The story was incredibly real, raw and so moving. It touched my heart and simultaneously, made it hurt. It’s a book about a couple and the heart wrenching struggles they are going through. Some of us will be able to relate to their story, many of us will not, but in the end, it’s an important read for so many reasons. Even if it’s to make us more aware and sensitive to a conversation I often touch upon (especially, after seeing personal friends go through such a similar situation). A bit different than many of Colleen Hoovers other books, but one that’s going to leave a lasting impression. It should be on the above list, but like I said, I read it after it was made. Undeniably, it will be on my next one.

I have to say, I have a love-hate relationship with reading. It is always hard for me to actually get myself to sit down and read, and often that’s because I don’t have a book I am really enjoying. Because when I do have one, all I want to do is read lol. I haven’t actually heard of any of these books before which is great becuause I’ve been on the hunt new ones. Frankly, I’m going to go check all of them out. When Life Gives You Lululemons seems hilarious and so realtable too! I have some book recommendations as well being, The Valley of Amazement by Amy Tan, The White Queen by Phillipa Gregory, Circle of Influence, and The Life-Changing Magic of Tiding Up! xx

I’ve read about half of these and loved them, so I added the rest to my list!
I also recommend Laura Dave (hello sunshine, 100 grapes), limelight, Fiona Davis (the address, dollhouse), and everything by Christina Lauren.
    Happy reading!

I used to LOVE to read. I read almost all books from the Oprah’s book club haha. Maybe except one or two. But now after having my daughter, she’s 13 months now. And if I pour myself a glass of wine and take a book, I pass out. I’m looking forward to when I actually can get thru the book. I miss reading.

I recently read the ”Nos Richesses” by Adimi Kaouther, an Algerian author.
It is a special book describing the life of the publisher Edmond Sharlot, who opened a bookstore in Algiers and spent his whole life publishing new and under-appreciated authors. One of them was Albert Camus. ”Nos Richesses” (Our Wealth) obviously refers to the books and i couldn’t agree more: Reading books make us richer.

I forgot to mention in my earlier comment that I am currently reading ‘The Idiot’ by Fyodor Dostoevsky and I am loving it.

While pregnant, I started listening to audiobooks and haven’t stopped! I get through 4-5 books a month now listening to them rather than reading and love it! It’s so relaxing and I can finally fit in my love of reading again (even with a 9 month old).

Great list – thank you! If you a fun, love story, easy read, check out That Month in Tuscany. It will whisk you away to Italy!

I actually read a lot of these, I started sharing a monthly book review https://pinksole.com/category/reviews/books/. I loved it ends with us, all your perfects was awesome but I hated Quinn at times, I felt like she was spoiled and quit unfair to her husband. I’ll check the others I haven’t read.

Before We Were Strangers sounds so good! I have to give it a read!

Loved reading this. I’ve found that I use to read so much and lately I haven’t been reading as much. I just picked up a few books earlier this Summer with all intentions of giving myself s Summer reading list and now it seems I have a Fall reading list thanks to you! Some of these have really caught my eye.

Hi. I am new to your blog but have been following you on IG for quite some time. What a great blog post for me to stumble into since I too love reading … and also have a love & hate relationship with it.
Thanks for your recommendations. I will put them on my list. The book I recently finished is called Pachinko by Min Jin Lee. Check it out and see if it will strike your interest. Looking forward to reading more of your posts. xo Karen

Thanks for the recs. I have been working on a good reads list this week. Mine include ‘The Other Woman’ by Daniel Silva; ‘The Perfect Couple’ and ‘The Identicals’ by Elin Hilderbrand; and finally ‘Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me’ by Mindy Kaling. I’m excited!

Omg, I love Before We Were Strangers, that one is on my favorite on Goodreads.

Everybody should read It end with us.

PD: The hating game is so funny and cute.

  • Remy

As a teacher with the summer “off” (nannying) I’ve had more time to read than usual!

Some good psychological thrillers I’ve enjoyed:

    The Woman in the Window
    The Good Girl
    The Wife Between Us

I’m also a huge Colleen Hoover fan. I just finished Ugly Love and it was heart wrenching and wonderful.

  • Tracy
