The other day, I was chatting with a friend about a cleanse that she was doing. A cleanse is always something I’ve wanted to do, but for whatever reason, the thought always gave me anxiety. If I have no real plans (aka = not going out to a restaurant), I have no problem eating veggies & fish, eliminating gluten and dairy, even giving up wine for a bit. Generally speaking, I eat fairly well, but as anyone does, I have my guilty pleasures.

The biggest one that comes to mind, especially if doing a cleanse, is giving up coffee.

*GASP*

The thing is, I’m not a caffeine addict. Generally speaking, I have 1-2 small cups of coffee a day, if that. Maybe a little more since becoming a mom, but hey, that’s to be expected. It’s just that I really look forward to my morning cup of joe. It brings me so much happiness and makes me a better human being. Maybe I’m a little reliant on it, but I love the ritual of it as much as anything else. In the morning, I always drink a cup of regular coffee, with dairy-free creamer. We use this machine that Keith got me for my birthday, that we love. If I’m ordering at a cafe, I usually get an almond milk latte since I’ve tried to eliminate dairy (primarily for my skin).

Aside from coffee, the list includes manicures, facials, red wine, dark chocolate and of course, shoes and handbags.

How about you guys? Lets hear!

Oh my….I have several. Like you I have 1-2 coffees a day; either a cappuccino or latté. Then there’s POPCORN – don’t put it in front of me I’ll eat, eat and eat! Obsessed with decorating with faux fur and of course shoes/bags/jeans.

Oups, forgot to mention I like the laid-back look and your hair looks nice pulled back.

I feel the same way about coffee. I love the morning ritual of it and don’t know that I could give it up. I think the other thing I couldn’t give up would be my Pilates classes and shoes. I’m obsessed!

Giving up my morning coffee is not going to happen! I started when I became a mom because I was so tired but do honestly look forward to the ritual part of it.

I don’t like having things off limits, so the idea of a cleanse just doesn’t appeal to me. I can give up a lot of foods or limit wine but if come Saturday night I really want a glass while we watch TV on the couch I’m going to have it!

Love the more laid-back feel of this post. More of these please!

It’s so funny this post is about coffee because I am currently trying to cut back on caffeine due to the way it’s been making me feel lately but I’m also craving the taste like woah so I switched to decaf! My guilty please would have to be candy/anything with glitter/ handbags.

I cannot drink coffee. It makes me hyper for a couple hours and then gives me a migraine… But I do have a guilty pleasure that I could never let go and that’s chocolate. I can’t live without it.

I’ve been replacing my coffee with tea lately!!! Topshop has the absolutely best jeans ever! The only brand of jeans that fit me right!

I have one coffee a day, that’s it – in the morning when I first sit down in the office. But woe betide anyone who tries to take that one coffee away from me!!

My guilty pleasure is chocolate! I really only drink 1 iced coffee (yes, year round, even in this cold) a day, so chocolate definitely wins…specifically dark chocolate with peanut butter 😉

Way back when, reading at a coffee shop was my favorite thing to do. The smell of coffee and the sound of light chatter made great reading companions. But just letting time go by is such an indulgence anymore!

Now I look forward to my hair appointments. I grab a stack of fashion mags and zone out for a couple of hours. It doesn’t happen often so I really look forward to it. ?

Love the casual chic look! I feel the EXACT same way about coffee. I really don’t need it to wake up in the morning–I feel like I am a natural morning person–but I do have 1-2 cups every morning with coconut milk. I just love the RITUAL of making coffee, the smell, the accessories, my favorite cup, etc. Small rituals can lead to a content life, I believe. One small tip, be careful about cleanses. I think limiting yourself mentally (like denying small pleasures like coffee) can have negative consequences. Love this post! xo

  • Simi

I am the same. I can´t give up a coffee. I am really not caffeine addicted, I just love the taste of it, smell of it and I really like to have my morning coffee with the breakfast.. it makes me happy as well 🙂

I only have one cup of coffee a day too, and I absolutely love it!! It’s good to cleanse, but I enjoy my coffee way too much 🙂

I have now decided to give up cakes and other forms of refined sugar for sometime. I have a feeling my energy levels are down because of the amount of cake I end up eating so I trying to see if this brings about a change. Lets see.

I’m quite a coffee addict actually but it’s not as unhealthy that people may think. I’ve always did my detox while still drinking coffee!

I love iced tea (unsweetened, I add Stevia in the Raw). I tried to give it up but was not able to.. So now I drink decaf mixed with herbal when I make it at home, and tell myself it’s like drinking water. I also have a shoe/handbag addiction. I sneak them into the house all the time.

I hear you with the coffee, I love my morning cup, too! I’ve cut back since becoming pregnant though, so I’m so looking forward to having my usual once a day; I’ve now been having a cup twice a week. I also love sushi and as you know, can’t have that either, haha. Doing my nails is definitely a favorite pastime for me and I also have a weakness for outerwear for some reason, especially leather jackets. I just always seem to gravitate towards them. Thanks for sharing, it was great getting to know a little more about you. Oh, and I’ve noticed since I’ve limited my dairy and meat intake to once or twice a week, my body has become more regulated, including my skin!

Life is too short to give up anything…But all in moderation. Give up coffee? Never. I would give up chocolate first – maybe – not.
