From Cab to Curb

Marissa Webb Olive Trench Overcoat, Gucci Belt and Celine Phantom Bag

Overcoat: Marissa Webb ℅ | Denim: Frame | Sweater: Banana Republic | Shoes: Jimmy Choo (love this alternative) | Bag: Celine Phantom | Sunglasses: Celine | Belt: Gucci

I often get asked the question “how the hell do you walk in those shoes?” There are some heels that I can actually walk/commute/”mom around” in (like these), but then there are strictly “cab to curb” shoes. Meaning, I can still hang in them (even dance in some), but I’m not stomping the streets of New York City with. And of course, you’ll usually find flats in my bag.

The outfit was topped off with this beautiful overcoat from none other than Marissa Webb. Most of her pieces are the epitome of what I’d describe my style, classic with an edge.

This leads me to my next question, how would you all describe your style? When people would ask me that question, it took me awhile to really figure out how to answer them. Yes, I love classic pieces, but I always like a little edge to my look. Whether it’s by adding a leather jacket or some distressed denim. I like to look put together, but not too put together.

How about you? I always love hearing how other women (and men!) would describe their style.

I love this casual but professional style! Personally I’m more street style/casual mixing feminine and masculine pieces together. xx

I’d have to say my style is also classic with a bit of edge. Love this look!

You knock it out of the park every single time!! My style is classic with an edge–perhaps why you are my most favorite blogger ever 😉 Beautiful as always–have a beautiful day 🙂

gtta admit I always wondered how you are always in heels. I’m a heel person myself but i drive everywhere so it’s different.
My style is definitely feminin leaning towards femme fatal, lol! I love pretty clothes in form fitting silhouettes. I wear a lot of red, black and lacy things. I also match my makeup to my outfit and always experiment with my hair style.

You look majestic! Such a simple, minimalistic outfit but a true showstopper! LOVE your tote!

I love that “I like to look put together, but not too put together.” Couldn’t have said it better myself!

I’m not sure how exactly to describe my personal style. Because I like to dress tomboy chic but I like to dress like a girly girl sometimes.

Great outfit! Hmm, my style – when I worked in an office, I guess I was more classic/corporate. Now, I’d say classic chic; wear lots of neutrals and tone-on-tone – accessorized by good shoes/bag. A sucker for a perfectly tailored jacket and choosy when it comes to trends.

Love classic w/ an edge! this outfit is the best embodiment of that!

HI Helena! Is your belt blue or black? I cant find the black belt anywhere! Thx!

Even at my age I can’t describe my style but what I can say is that, despite our difference in age, I take so much inspiration from you. You are one of maybe 3 fashion bloggers I follow. The other 2 I found through you too lol. I love a great pair of heels and a chic bag, but due to my job can’t usually wear the killer shoes. I love a good pair of skinny jeans and alternate between distressed and not, depending on my mood. Living in such a hot climate I don’t get to wear gorgeous trenches or sweater much anymore. I guess I live vicariously through you ? Carrol

    Good Morning,
My style in our tropical Panama City (the panama canal) is influenced due to the weather so lots of light colorful fabrics, sleeveless dresses and shirts
lots of flats and yes, flats for the street walking and high heels under the desk.

  • Nicole

I always wondered that! I can’t do heels walking around in NYC. This outfit is so chic! I love the color of your trench!

IDK how I would describe my style. I just wear what I feel. Thanks for being honest about stomping those NY streets.

Gorgeous overcoat! I love this outfit. My style is feminine but with some tomboy vibes- definitely a bit of a contradiction!

I’d love to know what flats you usually bring with you. I’m all about flats but it’s hard to find sexy stylish flats – can it even be done? My style is casual chic – I like my jeans with kicks but might pair them with statement jewelry or a dressier top.

    Helena,
I love your style, and your use of classics and neutral colors. My style is classic but sadly, no edge. I often throw in some leopard (shoes or bags) and that’s probably as edgy as I get.
