For those of you who follow me on instagram, might have already seen our exciting news! This Thursday, I’ll be 22 weeks pregnant and while I do love some chunky sweaters, that’s been the main reason for *so* many outfits based around them. I almost feel like I should be apologizing for that!
Before I get into the details, I just want to mention that before I got pregnant, I never really cared to read about the pregnancy details of others and basically, few things relating to that topic. I don’t mean to sound insensitive, but I would just bypass that sort of stuff and move on to whatever interested me. Of course now, I’m all about it!  So while I do plan to share and get into this exciting time in my life, I promise this won’t only turn into that type of blog.
BUT, I know some of you are in fact interested, so I wanted to share some things relating to my pregnancy. The first trimester was a bit of a rough one due to the constant state of nausea and overwhelming fatigue. I fell asleep on the train, in the passenger seat of any car and pretty much, anywhere I could squeeze a nap in. When Wendy, Anh and I first planned Paris, this was way before I found out I was pregnant and as the trip approached, I remember thinking “oh my goodness. I’m just so tired. How am I ever going to make it in Europe?” Luckily, I was totally fine once I got there! So yea, the fatigue was the thing I remember most, but as so many people said, once I hit the second trimester, I had 90% of my energy back. The nausea was also pretty bad, but seltzer and Pellegrino became my best friend. I also had to make sure my stomach was never empty, otherwise, I’d get insanely sick.
Aside from those few rough weeks, it’s been pretty smooth! I’m back to working out (I barely worked out the first trimester and felt so guilty about it) and back to eating healthier, rather than craving only carbs. I was on a major bagel, cream cheese and tomato kick and now I’ve replaced the bagel with a much healthier ezekiel bread.
I’m due on April 13th and we just found out the sex, so I’ll definitely be sharing that soon!
For any new parents out there, if there are any books out there that you loved, please share!Thank you guys for following!

Very warm congratulations! This is one stylish bump! Looking back at the previous weeks' outfits it seems kinda obvious now that the clothes & accessories were "strategically placed" 😉 but hey this is such a private, personal time in your life and yet you are sharing it with your readers, so don't apologize!

Congratulations!!! One book I loved was "our babies ourselves" because it explains why we raise babies the way we do and helps you to feel less guilty about any choices you make, in my case, keeping the baby crib in my bedroom. I love being a Mom and I wish you nothing but the best. My baby is 5 months old, and I still look at her, feel so happy and think "she is mine"!!!. Just holding/hugging her gives me the warmest loving feeling.

This is so exciting! I'm really glad to hear you're feeling a lot better. My mom had rough pregnancies. I always felt so bad for other mothers who went through that.

Congratulations! I'm due just two weeks after you. My husband and I have been listening to Bringing Up BeBe, and love it so far…may be worth checking out.

    Congrats Helena…

First trimester was rough for me too…not so tired but just I had a strong gag reflex and hated most food. The rest of the pregnancy was a dream though.

The only book I found useful was "Happiest Baby on the block". I was part of an on-line community called Baby and Bump when my daughter was a baby and I found the ladies on there very helpful

I have lived by What to Expect (the book and the app) and the Wonder Years (book and app). So excited for you! And yes, the first trimester is the worst … you can't tell anyone you are pregnant and you feel awful!

"The Science of Parenting" written by Margot Sunderland. Highly recommended and really really helps to truly understand your child and his/her needs. It even should be mandatory to parents to be… 😉

THANK YOU for taking the time to share your experience. I'm in my first trimester and having the exact same problems (no energy and always having to have food in my stomach). I feel like a lazy, carb-grazing machine. I've been feeling guilty about practically living off of bread and little to no exercise, but reading your post made me feel so much better. It seems like all of my girlfriends had a very different experience (practically no eating at all) and I've been feeling a bit "lonely" in my experience. Anyway, thanks again and congratulations!

Congratulations! My little guy is 4 months old. I'm in the middle of Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child and think it's great – already been helpful. Also enjoyed Bringing Up Bebe.

Congrats girl!! I'm so excited for you to experience the joys of pregnancy! I am due about a month after you! I would definitely start reading other pregnancy blogs, that is what I loved to do when I was pregnant with my first. Also read The Bump articles…they are very helpful!! With my first, I bought What to Expect When You're Expecting, but I actually didn't read it too much…it is a great book though!

I hope you are starting to feel better and regain that energy! I'm just starting to get over my morning sickness and get back into blogging…thank goodness!! I can't wait to read about your growing bump!

So exciting!! I'm due in ten days. The best book I read during my pregnancy was Expecting Better, by Emily Oster. She's an economics professor at the University of Chicago. It's a smart read — I just couldn't deal with WTE and some of the other traditional pregnancy books. It also happens to be the only book I brought home that my husband was able to make his way through, as well.

Congratulations Helena! I have been following your blog for a little over a year now and last January I myself got pregnant. My little monkey is now 2 months old 🙂 As you may imagine I love fashion and here are my top 3 things I credit to bouncing back sooner than later and being able to wear my favorite fashions again:
1- Spoiled mama products (they have a tummy butter that is absolutely amazing. I am still using it post partum as I never got even 1 stretch mark and it helped fade a few little ones I previously had)
2- Tracy Anderson prenatal dvds (they come in a set of 9 one for eachonth and are super effective )
3- babycenter.com hands down the best site for pregnant mamas with tips and tricks you cant find anywhere else!

    Enjoy this time!!

Congratulations! I found The Mayo Clinic Guide to a healthy pregnancy and Breastfeeding Made Simple 7 Natural Laws very helpful. I credit having no back pain and a great labor and delivery to practicing yoga and barre burn throughout my entire pregnancy. The Storq bundle was perfect and Old Navy has the best maternity work out clothes for the price. I kept That's It! Fruit bars in every bag and bought a BKR water bottle which I brought everywhere. I love All Modern for nursery decor that's chic and kid friendly.
